Jermaine McFarlane is a Software Development Build Fellow at Open Avenues, where he works with students leading projects in software development.
Jermaine is a Solutions Architect at a startup, where he focuses on designing, leading, and delivering software solutions throughout the entire development lifecycle.
He has over two decades of experience spanning both healthcare and information technology. Over the years he has transitioned from solving problems affecting people’s health to creating solutions to impact the quality of their lives. He thrives in solving meaningful problems with one of his core beliefs being that computers should be used to do what they do best (analyze, compute, display, store, and retrieve data) to allow people to do what they do best (empathize, connect, imagine, create) to improve themselves, their world, and others.
He holds a medical degree and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.
A fun fact about Jermaine is that he was one of the main developers involved in building the RedBull Wings For Life app in 2021 that was used by 184,236 participants in over 151 countries to simultaneously run against a moving finish line.
