Harini Sivagurunatha Krishnan is a Molecular Biology Global Talent Fellow at Open Avenues, where she works with students leading projects in molecular biology.
Harini is a Senior Research Associate at Dicerna Pharmaceuticals (a part of Novo Nordisk) where she works on in vitro and in vivo screening of RNAi agents for therapeutic molecule selection, hit identification, and lead optimization, thereby helping Dicerna in its drug discovery efforts. Harini has 5 years of experience in Biotechnology. As soon as she graduated from her master’s in 2017, she worked for one of the stem cell research labs at USC, LA, then moved to a lab focusing on prostate cancer at Weill Cornell Medicine, NY for a short period. To gain experience in an industrial setting, she switched to a start-up focusing on cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, based in Brooklyn. Finally, she moved to Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, as she was fascinated by RNA biology and wanted to learn more about RNAi Therapeutics. She holds a master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University.
A fun fact about Harini: She loves traveling and Ioves planning for trips equally (or even more). So far, she has shared her travel itineraries (for Puerto Rico and Utah-Arizona-Vegas road trip) with 8 people and they were able to execute the plan successfully. :D She loves spicy food more than anything and people get surprised when she tells them she does not have much of a sweet tooth. She likes desserts, but she has to end her meal with something spicy.
